New Brunswick Premier Susan Holt unveiled a new strategy titled 'Defence Ready: New Brunswick’s Defence Growth Framework' at CFB Gagetown to expand the province's footprint in Canada's defence sector. The initiative aims to grow the sector's GDP from $762 million to $1 billion by 2030, targeting land systems, advanced manufacturing, cybersecurity, minerals, and port assets. Economic Development Minister Luke Randall noted that a specialized task force will work with stakeholders to connect provincial companies to broader defence supply chains. Additionally, the provincial government recently announced municipal infrastructure investments, including wastewater upgrades in Oromocto to accommodate an anticipated growth of over 2,000 civilians and base members.
