The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, through Minister of Forestry, Agriculture and Lands Pleaman Forsey, is investing nearly $308,000 to reimburse 23 volunteer fire departments for equipment damage, lost resources, and fuel costs incurred while fighting the 2025 Kingston area wildfires. The funding allocation distributes specific amounts across 23 participating local departments, led by the Bay de Verde Fire Department receiving $105,659.50 (including $100,000 for a response vehicle), Seaside Fire Department receiving $30,989.00, and Trinity South Central Fire Department receiving $26,996.14. This provincial assistance is supported broadly by Budget 2026, which allocates more than $7 million overall to support volunteer fire departments across Newfoundland and Labrador.
