The British Columbia Ministry of Housing and Municipal Affairs and BC Housing are investing nearly $10 million through the Homeless Action Plan Enhanced Fund to open Solace Shelter at 1055 Glenfair Dr. in Kamloops, providing 40 support spaces for seniors and older adults operated 24/7 by The Mustard Seed. Additionally, the Province is contributing approximately $17.7 million through the Complex Care Fund for construction starting in October 2026 on 20 complex-care housing units at 1102 Glenfair Dr., where Interior Health will deliver clinical health services.

The Ontario Ministry of Long-Term Care broke ground on two new long-term care homes in Oakville developed by Schlegel Villages Inc. under the province's Surplus Lands program. Known collectively as The Village of Heritage Trails, the project will feature 640 total beds—comprising 554 new and 86 upgraded spaces—organized into ten 320-bed facilities connected by a central amenity corridor. The development is scheduled to welcome its first residents in summer 2028, creating approximately 700 construction jobs and 1,000 permanent long-term care positions while incorporating Living Classrooms training in partnership with Sheridan College.
