The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, led by Minister of Forestry, Agriculture and Lands Pleaman Forsey, launched a public consultation process to inform an upcoming 10-Year Agriculture Strategy aimed at strengthening local food production, expanding indoor growing, and removing barriers for new farmers. The consultation period runs through January 29, 2027, seeking feedback from stakeholders via engageNL.ca and [email protected] on topics including Crown land access, rural economic opportunities, and food processing growth. Additionally, the government highlighted the Provincial Agriculture Equipment Leasing Program, announced in Budget 2026, which provides access to $1 million worth of government-owned equipment across banks located in St. John's, Wooddale, Pynn's Brook, and Happy Valley-Goose Bay to reduce operating costs for producers.
