Construction has officially started on the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) South Campus Infrastructure Renewal project in Burnaby, backed by a $48 million investment from the Government of British Columbia. The project involves replacing aging underground infrastructure—including electrical, gas, water, sanitary, and stormwater systems—while upgrading above-ground public spaces, walkways, bicycle networks, and a restored urban greenway to improve campus accessibility. This initiative complements other recent investments at the Burnaby campus, such as the Trades and Technology Complex and the Tall Timber Student Housing residence, with the overall project expected to be completed by early 2029.
