The Government of Canada and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador announced the expansion of federal biometrics collection services to Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Labrador, set to launch in early 2027. Delivered through designated Service Canada locations, the new site eliminates the previous requirement for regional residents, workers, students, and families to travel exclusively to St. John's to fulfill immigration biometrics requirements. The initiative addresses geographic barriers in Newfoundland and Labrador following advocacy by provincial ministers Lin Paddock and Lela Evans, alongside Federal Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Lena Metlege Diab and Labrador Member of Parliament Philip Earle.
