Premier Tony Wakeham and Minister of Health and Community Services Joedy Wall announced a $21 million investment under Budget 2026 to add 45 new long-term care beds at the Corner Brook Community Health Centre in western Newfoundland and Labrador. Renovations at the facility will repurpose the former commercial kitchen and personal laundry facilities, with the first 15 beds scheduled to open in spring 2027 and the remaining 30 beds in fall 2027. The project aims to reduce acute care pressures at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, improve patient flow in the Western Zone, and enhance regional long-term care capacity.
