The Ontario government is investing nearly $1.9 million through the Ontario Labour Market Partnerships program to fund a two-year strategic study led by the Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries (OCNI). Titled 'Strengthening Ontario's Nuclear Supply Chain: A Strategic Study to Enable Clean Energy Growth', the project will map the domestic nuclear supply chain, identify workforce and manufacturing gaps, and develop recommendations to support major nuclear build-outs across the province. These projects include the Darlington and Bruce nuclear station refurbishments, the construction of the G7's first grid-scale Small Modular Reactor at Darlington, and new generation opportunities at the Wesleyville and Bruce C sites. The broader nuclear expansion is projected to support up to 150,000 workers, generate over $800 billion in additional GDP, and meet escalating domestic and international clean energy demands.
