The Ontario Ministry of Transportation is advancing the widening of Highway 69 between Parry Sound and Sudbury by investing in the relocation of a Canadian National Railway Company (CN) rail line within the Township of Mowat and the Municipality of Killarney. The project involves splitting the remaining 68 kilometres of highway widening work into six sections—with four under heavy construction by the end of next year—to facilitate the construction of a new Highway 522 interchange. To date, the province has completed widening 84 kilometres of the 152-kilometre corridor, supported by a broader $31 billion ten-year provincial investment in highways, roads, and bridges.
