Tags: [British Columbia, Housing, Social Services, Municipal]The Government of British Columbia, through BC Housing and the Ministry of Housing and Municipal Affairs, announced that a new 50-unit purpose-built housing development at 250 Bryden St. in Nanaimo will operate as substance-free, recovery-oriented housing. Developed in partnership with the City of Nanaimo and the Newcastle Neighbourhood Association, the site will support individuals recovering from substance use who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. This project adds to provincial housing totals in Nanaimo, which include over 550 supportive housing units open or underway and 159 HEARTH units across 16 communities since 2017.
