Ontario Announces Disaster Recovery Funding for Municipality of Callander

The Government of Ontario is providing the Municipality of Callander with up to $455,000 through the Municipal Disaster Recovery Assistance (MDRA) program. The funding will cover emergency response and repair costs for essential municipal shoreline infrastructure along Callander Bay, including a collapsed break wall caused by an extreme storm surge and high winds from Lake Nipissing in April 2024. The MDRA program assists municipalities in covering extraordinary recovery costs when disaster-related expenditures exceed three per cent of their own-purpose taxation levy.
