The Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly passed a resolution approving the Definitive Cooperation and Implementation Agreement for Churchill Falls and Gull Island, following a four-day debate and review by the Independent Churchill River Review Committee. The agreement replaces the 1969 Churchill Falls Agreement, delivers $49 billion in present-day value ($273 billion in nominal cash flows) over its lifespan, and provides increased transmission access and power control. Premier Tony Wakeham announced that the province will advance the project in partnership with the Innu Nation to drive economic growth and job creation.
