Following a crushing provincial election defeat where the Coalition Avenir Québec party failed to win a single seat, outgoing Quebec Premier Christine Fréchette announced her resignation as party leader on Tuesday. Fréchette, who took over the leadership from François Legault earlier in the year, accepted full responsibility for the party's loss. She will remain in office as premier until Parti Québécois leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon is sworn in.
