The Government of Saskatchewan highlighted infrastructure progress in its August 2026 Monthly Construction Update, detailing advancements on two major Saskatoon projects: the Saskatoon City Hospital Acute Care expansion and the Saskatoon Complex Needs Facility. The Saskatoon City Hospital project, which is nearly 80 percent complete at Market Mall, adds 109 acute inpatient beds (including 60 Acute Medicine beds, 22 Acute Rehabilitation beds, 12 Acquired Brain Injury beds, and 15 High Acuity beds) with a scheduled completion in early 2027. Meanwhile, the Saskatoon Complex Needs Facility—located at 1701 Idylwyld Drive North by contractor Quorex Construction—has reached approximately 80 percent construction completion, delivering 30 new medical supervision and stabilization spaces across the province funded via a October 2023 initiative to support individuals struggling with addictions and relieve pressure on police cells and hospital emergency departments.

As part of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance's annual Brake Safety Week, the Saskatchewan Highway Patrol, RCMP, Ministry of Finance Revenue Division, and SGI conducted 'Operation Air Brake' inspections from August 25-27, 2026, at the Beverly Weigh Scale near Swift Current. The initiative follows a May 2026 International Roadcheck campaign in Moosomin, where officers inspected 319 commercial vehicles, resulting in 84 passes, 116 vehicles requiring attention, and 119 vehicles placed out of service. To strengthen commercial vehicle enforcement, the 2026-27 Provincial Budget increased Saskatchewan Highway Patrol funding from $7.8 million to $8.5 million, enabling the addition of five new officers.
