The Ontario government, through Metrolinx, has broken ground on major construction upgrades at the Durham College Oshawa GO Station to support two-way, all-day GO train service on the Lakeshore East line. The project involves building two additional tracks, a new north platform with a canopy and snow-melt system, an extended south platform, two new pedestrian bridges, and a bus loop, while accommodating future electrification and the upcoming Bowmanville Extension project. The initiative forms part of Ontario's broader $15.3 billion GO Expansion program and its overall nearly $70 billion transit expansion plan.
