The agency, which covers 98 percent of the provincial workforce and has returned $185 million to employers since 2015, is focusing its business transformation on streamlining claims by assigning single caseworkers for longer durations and addressing complex claims under the Workers Compensation Act, including psychological harms and pre-existing conditions in an aging workforce. To counteract healthcare shortages, the board has established priority access agreements with health-care providers and virtual care services for psychological injuries.
